Jun 20, , If so the problem is in the water dispenser or the solenoid valve for the water dispenser. If icemaker does not work, close the saddle valve completely then reopen. If that doesn’t solve the problem loosen the supply tubing at the solenoid valve, see if you have water there. If not, you have a blocked supply line. If you have water on the supply side loosen the tubing on the refrigerator side. Press the dispenser lever. You should get water out. If you get water out of the valve the problem is in the water dispenser. Don’t think you should hear a hum, there should not be a motor involve.

So fixing it was the next option. One of the things I needed to fix was the water dispenser. I drink lots of water. I did not like drinking unfiltered tap water.
There was a plastic cap over the water line connector on the lower rear of the refrigerator. The compression nut and ferrule. As before, the tubing was slipped in .
We are at the tail end of the remodel, finally, and needed to install a water line from the sink plumbing to the refrigerator for the ice maker. This is such an easy process and so I created a tutorial on how to install a refrigerator water line. The instructions apply to replacing an existing water line, as well. An Adjustable Wrench or Pliers Utility Knife First and foremost, if an existing water line is being replaced, turn off the water to the line.
It will be located under the sink! More information may be included on the instructions that are included in the icemaker kit, so make sure to thoroughly read those first! Carefully move the refrigerator out from the wall, and remove any kickplates installed on the lower part of the cabinet on the floor. We built the cabinets in the Rebel house using furniture legs to elevate them off of the floor, and the kickplates had not been installed yet. If the line is just being replaced, unscrew the brass nut on the valve for the old icemaker line under the sink, and remove the line.
I removed the existing line from the refrigerator by unscrewing the brass nut holding the water line in the valve. The line is generally located at the lower right edge of the back of the refrigerator. It would be easy to add a coupler to tap into the existing line but doing so adds an extra place for a leak to occur. Plus, that part of the line would be located under a cabinet and it may leak for awhile before being detected thus ruining the floor or cabinets.
The icemaker kit will come with a water line, a coupler, a new valve, and a few brass parts such as nuts and ferrules.

A refrigerator is a cooling apparatus. The common household appliance (often called a “fridge” for short) comprises a thermally insulated compartment and a heat pump—chemical or mechanical means—to transfer heat from it to the external environment (i.e.
April 30, at There are at least three micro-switches actuated by the door mechanism. Normally one of these switches activates the circuit for powering the magnetron when the door is shut; however, that switch can fail, so to ensure that the magnetron never comes on when the door is open, another switch in that same door switch assembly will short the power to the magnetron and blow the fuse if power is ever supplied to the magnetron while it thinks the door is open.
These switches, and the plastic assembly that holds them in place takes a lot of abuse, and many many cycles. It will fail given enough time or enough kitchen grease. This is one of the most common problems I have found with discarded microwaves. The switches can fail shorted failure to open when it is supposed to , and the switches can fail open failure to close when it is supposed to.
Additionally the failure can be intermittent, and can even be due to the mechanical alignment of the switches to the actuator assembly on the door. Most of the switches are single throw, infrequently I see double throw switches. The function of the switch connector is usually molded into the plastic of the switch normally means when the actuator is not depressed C: Often, the failed switch will no longer act right wont click when the plunger is depressed manually and the diagnosis can be made without even using a multi-meter.
So diagnosing the problem is as simple as checking these switches, but what a PITA. Never assume that the high voltage circuit is safe the few wires which connect the high voltage transformer, the mounted capacitor, the magnetron cathode heater and HV diode. To make the dangerous HV circuit safe, one must short both sides of the HV capacitor to chassis ground with a well insulated probe that is shunted to the chassis ground.

By Andrea Smith Refrigerators now have apps and Wi-Fi to help you plan your meals, coordinate your family’s calendar and even print coupons. How to Replace a Refrigerator Water Line Refrigerator ice makers are attached to the main water supply pipe that leads to the kitchen. The copper supply line or copper tubing can corrode over time and create pin-size holes that leak. Replacing the copper supply line ensures your kitchen floor and wall do not become water damaged. Turn off the water supply to the ice maker at the main water pipe shutoff valve. Most copper supply lines, commonly called copper tubing, are attached to pipes with a saddle-type shutoff valve or a compression tee.
Turn off the water supply to the copper tubing at the shutoff valve. If your shutoff valve is leaking, unscrew the shutoff valve and pull it off the main water supply pipe.
As you can see, the biggest difference between these 3 is storage space. More often than not a compact cube or a is perfect for a very small studio apartment with only one person or a dorm room. If you actually have the space for a midsize refrigerator also known as an apartment size refrigerator then bigger is probably better and the right choice for you.
Even though a midsize refrigerator is smaller than a regular size fridge, you should have enough food storage to cook for yourself more than a few times a week. Click here to learn more about apartment refrigerators.
These models require copper tubing and a water hookup which can in some cases mean you need to leave more than the standard 1 inch clearance in the back. A few of their refrigerators don’t have any posted recommended clearances on the sides, like the GX2FHDXVB, GX2FHDXVQ, and GX2FHDXVY.
French-Door Refrigerator We’ve seen what top-of-the-line French door refrigerators can do. It does make sacrifices for the sake of affordability. It also doesn’t have folding shelves, custom temp drawers or even more basic amenities like spillproof shelves or humidity sliders on the drawers. What it doesn’t sacrifice is performance, or style, for that matter. Since it gets those two essential aspects right, it’s well worth a look for French door shoppers on a budget.
I prefer GE’s slate finish to stainless steel. That might sound like blasphemy given the current popularity of the latter with high-end appliances, but I’ve seen plenty of both, and GE’s dark gray hits a bolder note in my mind while still keeping an air of professionalism. It also smudges less and maintains a cleaner look longer because of it.
To be honest, I might just be a little tired of stainless everything, but GE deserves credit for having a premium finish that’s different. Enlarge Image The slate finish stands out nicely from the stainless crowd. Here, GE uses stainless as an accent rather than the base — the curved handles glisten with that familiar silver and complement the body of the fridge nicely.
The rest of the exterior is unbroken gray save for the circled “GE” in the upper right corner. Hidden dispenser, hidden annoyances Finish aside, the most uncommon part of this fridge is the water dispenser, and it isn’t on the exterior. GE chose to keep the outer surface clean.

I have turned off the water so it no longer has the capability to make cold water or ice but it is still leaking a good amount of water across my floor. I have no clue what to do does anyone have an idea? I had so much ice accumulation that I couldn’t even take out the wire drawer. I took a hammer to the ice and eventually got it all out. It was leaking even though the ice maker hose wasn’t even hooked up or turned on, so I thought hooking it up might solve the problem.
It looks like water is leaking from the back right inside of the freezer from a vent. It’s just a small frozen trickle. I have no idea why it would leak from there when the ice maker is on the left side. My warranty has run out, so who can help?
